Just a basic question...

Yes, I do realize this may sound like a "fluff" topic, but the question doesn't escape me.

Here i was, at a friend (knows not of magic's truth, and he invited me to his house to try his new game, "The Elder scrolls V, Skyrim". Here is where the topic comes in. In this "wonderful game" (i'm not being cynical actually; it's well-made), there were spells called "Thu'ums". Would these in any manner be a feasible form or magic, or Bethesda's "Fluff Factory nonsense?"

Hmm..did this originate from Skyrim completely? If so, I believe it is fluffy work, considering the fact that it came from a video game.

The Thu'um is just a form of spoken magick in the form of shouts as drilled in your head by a large portion of game characters throughout the game. (Great game by the way)
As for an actual form of this to practice, you can look into Norse Galdr magick. This is done by the speaking or singing of runes when doing a spell. But there is much more to it than just singing or speaking the runes.
Or I'm sure that if you wanted you could write a spell that requires shouting the incantation. Just don't go expecting to do stuff like what's done in Skyrim.
