all the Creatures

Ok, I know I will get in trouble for this but what the hell, Goddess hates a coward. I have only been on this site for a few weeks. I enjoy it very much. What I enjoy most is the large diversity of people, ages, and beliefs. But... I have to say I am taken aback by all the posts regarding Vampires, Demons, Black magic, wild spells. I have been studing the Occult for two decades and I have to admit in all that time I have never encountered so many inquiries on these subjects. I realize this is not a Wiccan site, but I guess I have been concentrating on some very practical problems that exist in the world. Discrimination against Pagans in the workplace, and throughout Society. Providing reliable information about Wicca to the general public. Setting the groundwork for Pagan Charter schools, Pagan Daycare centers, Pagan Green Cemetaries, teaching Pagans how to run and win Public offices, trying to unite various groups to meet and discuss these issues and more. On this site, I can read in one day requests for spells that can turn one into a vampire, or a request to meet Faeries, and Demons, and boogeymen of all stripes. I realize those type of spells are sexy, and not as colorful as fighting against discrimination, but I have to say some of these requests are just inane, and border on the ludicrous. Maybe that what makes this site interesting to people, and I am prepared to get feedback telling me to mind my own business, and various historical references defending the existence of Vampires and the such. However, there are a lot of very real problems that exist for seekers in the Pagan world that I think we need to discuss and address. Perhaps this site is not the place to do so, but they need addressing nonetheless. Thank You for reading, Happy Yule to all!! ( and I mean all ) Rilke

As you said, this site has people from all walks of life and all ages.

Communication with a variety of beings is a part of magickal practice in many paths and so is important to many people.

Having said that, many people who ask for these spells are seriously misguided or lacking proper information and many people are trying to help guide them so they can see the difference between Hollywood and reality. Sometimes, it's in complete vain.

I agree Pagan rights and politics should be discussed here, and many experienced (and some not so experienced) Pagans or any other magick practitioner would love to discuss and brain storm ways they can help more politically in their community and globally. I'm sure most of the SoM community would like to see posts of this nature, so don't feel discouraged just because your post of such subjects is on top of or under a thread from a kid who wants pointy teeth and sparkly skin ;)

What I don't understand is why in this thread about discrimination do people feel they would "get in trouble" for posting their thoughts on it. This site is for anyone who is interested in spells of magic. No matter the flavor of magic you use you are free to write about what you feel. There are rules to follow when posting in the public forums but no where are we to censer information about magic and the use of spells on this site.

If one chooses to believe that a spell can turn them self into to another creature there is no harm in this. Those who come to this site to learn what they can, will be exposed to all different types of people who have magic as part of their life. No matter how you spell magic, no matter what religion you come from or have chosen, no matter what you believe possible, the reality is that here you can talk about it freely.

As a pagan, (specific branch of the tree, the roots ;) I see that most who come thinking magic is something to learn so that one can control their life, do not find the path to what they seek. Those who learn to seek the truth , actually research and practice are the ones who thrive. So to the many who have been caught in the web of the ones who wish to lead you astray I bid you all ado. Those who wish to break free will, those who do not will feel forever trapped.

I have to disagree with this statement kts "If one chooses to believe that a spell can turn them self into to another creature there is no harm in this."

I think there is harm in thinking this. Both to ones self and to the occult community at large. It shows a lack of distinguishing between the imagination of Hollywood and the reality of the world and it's planes of existence. These are also the same people who are very vocal in the outside world and add to the confusion and dislike of magick in general.

On the other hand..

I think them posting their questions here is a good thing because it gives people the opportunity to help them understand that they are not going to be physically immortal, have a tail or scales, ect.

Exactly it harms no one to believe in such things, for those who do either learn the error of their ways or they are thought of as silly. The problem with the masses disliking the idea of spells, witchcraft, and such are misconceptions. They are lead to believe that magic is the "devils work" rather than seeing it as a "gift from the heavens". It is only by accepting what is reality and positively changing it that you will help those to move forward towards enlightenment. By trying to force the the knowledge you will get nowhere, it is better to let those come of their own free will.

Thanks for saying what needed to be said, rilke. And it's true that alot of humans are very gullible. Especially when it comes to creatures such as vampires, ect. Mostly due to movies or false books. And by the way, you shouldn't get in trouble. Everyone here is free to there own opinions.
