How to Cleanse a sacred space
By: SilverVixen

This was an essay I had to type up for lesson that i was doing on witch school, hope you enjoy

There are many ways to cleanse and create a sacred space. The first step is to plan out what exactly you will be doing, how many people will be participating and the most effective method that you as the person ,are wanting to use, to cleanse the appropriate space required. You can cleanse a space by many means, smoke, visualization or the use of sea salt in water and asperse the water across the area that is going to be used. The one thing I have noticed with the Correllian way of doing a cleansing is the use of the water, salt and visualization. A very good method as many use more than one, combining them to amplify the energy being used to purify the area.
So how does one actually cleanse a space? The answer, easily. Take a bowl of salt, and a bowl of water and place them before you. At this point the space that is going to be used has either been marked out, or you know exactly the amount of space in an area that is going to be used. Take your casting hand over the salt and place it a few inches above the bowl. In a circular motion going tuthail or counterclockwise three times, imagine a yellowish-white light pouring out, and filling the bowl of salt and removing all negative energy. At this time you can say something to the extent of “I exorcise you, O creature of Earth, casting out from you any impurities which may lie within”.
Now, you will go clockwise or Deosil, three times, and can say something to the extent of “I do bless and consecrate you to this work ”.
At this point imagine a Bluish white light consuming and filling the salt, see the light until it shines as brightly as if there were a blue-white sun within it.
You will do the same with the water. Take your casting hand and place it a few inches above the bowl of water. Three times in a circular motion going Tuthail (counter clockwise), see the yellowish-white light again pouring into the water, filling the water with purifying light to remove all negativity. You can say something like “I exorcise you, Oh creature of water casting out from you any impurities which may lie within.”
Then, go Deosil (clockwise), three times, and bless the water. “I do bless and consecrate you to this work.”
Visualize a Bluish white light consuming and filling the water, see the light until it shines as brightly as if there were a blue-white sun within it.
At this point you can say something to the like of “Behold the salt is pure, the water is pure, Purity into purity, and purity be blessed.”
Take three pinches of the salt and put it into the water. Then go Deosil around the circle aspersing the water lightly. While doing so, imagine the area being flooded with yellow light. Let the yellow light spread in all directions.
If you so choose you can say something to the effect of “Behold I cleanse and purify this space.”
Once you’ve gone around the circle, see it filled with a clear blue-white light, so it is wholly filled in all directions.
Congratulations, you have now blessed and cleansed a ritual/sacred space.

` The use of smoke is another way to bless and cleanse the area as well. The use of sage has been used for centuries, to purify the area that is going to be used as a sacred space. Personally I use white sage to purify the area in which I’m planning on working as well as myself as a way of releasing all excess energy before the actual casting of a circle. I usually visualize a white light absorbing and forcing out all the negative energy in the area. I don’t usually use words but if they are needed I will usually say something to the effect of “I cleanse this space for my ritual work, All Negativity shall be banished.”
Once the light has died down a bit I will say something like “I have cleansed this space in the name of the lord and lady. May its purity allow for a clean working environment, as well as a clean mind to work with.”
And that’s how I cleanse my sacred space.
