I am new to this.

I am curious about wicca. I am a former Christian who decided to try other faiths. I have done some research and understand that wiccans worship the horned god and moon goddess. As a wiccan, I would like to perform spells. Do I have to cast a circle every time? Is it necessary? Do all spells require items, or will words alone work with some spells? Thank you.

Welcome! No you don't have to cast a circle every time, circles are for protection to help channel your energies. You can simply be protected by your aura or your god/goddess of choice. For beginners I recommend casting a circle at least a few times.

Not all spells require items, but they do help focus the energy and make the spell stronger. Hope I helped >^_^<

It should also be noted that you can be a chrsitian and practice magic. Most spells/rituals/ect. tell you to envoke your personal deities which means you can call upon the Christian God.

To perform a spell, it is not necessary to cast a circle every time. The circle is a sacred space of protection and I would recommend getting into the practice of doing it, but it is entirely up to you. It simply depends on what you feel comfortable with.

Not all spells require items, either. There are many different types of spells. Some only require an incantation, others are even more minimalistic than that. You can also create your own spells with whatever you have available to you, as long as you understand their powers/abilities.
