Help Naming Crystals
By:
Hello all! I'm a fairly new witch though for the longest I've had this set of crystals, and I want to start using them for my magic. Though I'm not quite sure which ones are which, I gathered one of each kind that I owned and laid them all out. Here's the picture (The picture is a little blurry because I took it on my phone this morning): http://oi65.tinypic.com/k48msh.jpg

May you please help me in naming them? Thank you!

Top left looks like sodalite. The one in the top row with the glittery surface is an agate geode due to the blue banding. The spotted one is dalmatian jasper. The purple one does not resemble the texture of amethyst, so I'm going with fluorite. The bottom left is raw metal ore. It's hard to see but I'm going to guess it is pyrite.

The others are too difficult to identify in such a raw state. I suggest that in the future, you buy gemstones that are already identified if you don't have the ability to do so.

Thank you, the reason why they are in such a raw state is because I shifted them out myself from a crystal reservoir a few years back on a class feild trip. Sorry it was a little hard to tell bit you were a big help.

Very cool. So then these gemstones found you and have a more personal connection. I would suggest forgoing any labels or research into their general meaning and work with the spirit of each stone. Get to know them by taking at least a week with each to carry and meditate with them. Observe how they behave and what influence they have on you. Keep a journal to write down your findings. Our ancestors didn't have books to tell them about the power of a stone or crystal. Yes, some where known and passed down through oral tradition. But that information began somewhere.

Look at blood stone for example. It's revered all over the world in different cultures yet what it was associated with is agreed upon! How did they all know? They listened to the stone itself. ;)
