Trothmoot 2013

Heads up, Heathens! Trothmoot 2013 is nearly here!

"Trothmoot 2013 will take place on the West Coast, from May 30 - June 2. Location will be in Kern County, CA at the Tehachapi Mountain Park. There are cabins and tent space available. Our kitchen sedition staff will be cooking up a storm of great heathen feastery. Registration dates will be announced soon, and this year's Trothmoot will be more economical than last year! Save your pennies and get ready for great workshops, community, our annual meeting, the grand feast and sumbel. It's been a long time since we have had a moot on the West Coast"

On a personal note, I encourage Heathens OF ALL BRANCHES OF HEATHENRY to go to this. The Troth STILL does not allow the worshipping or honoring of several deities there. The Troth even says:

"In conformance with our Position Statement, any hailing of Fenris, Surt, Jormungandr, and allied wights (excluding Loki) remain forbidden anywhere at Trothmoot and other Troth-sponsored events."

I think it's important to get out to the Trothmoot at least once in your life to see a large gathering of Heathens. I also think if more Rokkatruars and Lokeans were to go, we might be able to change the current restrictions on who can be honored. Who knows!

Unfortunately, I will not be personally attending.

There is a lot of bad blood between the Troth and I due to their restrictions on honoring deities and my personal path- thus, for reasons between the Troth and I, I will do my own honoring at my house.

I would like to see a couple Heathens from SoM go, if they could. I think it could prove to be interesting and insightful. The Troth does teach quite a bit and it could do some good to get out and honor with the other Heathens.

I would have loved to go, but I do not have the money to make a trip to California. Perhaps next year.

Clever, you said there was a Hel and a Loki Ve at this years Troth? You also mentioned something about Kaldera and Krasskova holding a jotun blot? If you have any information or links you could post here about either, it would be much appreciated. :)

Unfortunately I can't provide links as the information was posted on a mailing list and not an open forum. What I can tell you officially is that there will indeed be a Ve for both Loki and Hela. The Hela Ve will focus on honoring the lady Hela and our ancestors in Helheim. The Loki Ve will be for personal honorings of Loki and the gifts he provides. Both will have a blot done and both will allow private blots/offerings.

Surtr, Fenrir, Jormungandr, and a few others are still barred from honoring at Trothmoot. However I view this recent development as serious progress of tolerance for the Troth. Elections were held recently and there shall be a new Steward for the Troth, this will usher in all sorts of change and news I am sure. I will keep you updated.

Raven Kaldera runs a Jotun friendly equivalent of Trothmoot in Pennsylvania. The festival is called the Nine Worlds Festival. There will be rituals, vendors, feasting, workshops, and all sorts of fun things. There are a lot of things I really like about this event although it is a pricey event (they can help those who are lacking a bit of the finances.) To read more about that you can go to their site at http://www.nineworldsfestival.org/

Would love to go ...

But religion friction, and personal dilemmas, prevent me from doing so ...

Ah, well, the solitary shaman life for me :)
