Hi. So I've just bought a Rose Quartz pendant, and I'm wondering if I need to do any cleansing or something before I wear it on? And what are the steps or process of cleansing? So sorry, I'm new to all of this.
You don't necessarily have to cleanse it just to wear it, but if you plan on placing any energy within it, it is highly encouraged.
Anyway, to the actual question :)
To cleanse an object, there are several different routes you can take. The simplest of which (that I've found) is to place it in a bowl of salt, and burn some sage near it, waving the bundle of sage slowly over the object to let the smoke draw out any negative energies. This is best performed with two white candles to either side of the bowl containing the salt to symbolize purity, but they are not necessary if you don't have them.
There are multiple other techniques I've found for cleansing, but sage is my go to solution whenever it comes to cleansing anything anymore (including negative energies in a living space)
Is there anything else other than sage? My family doesn't know that I'm into this and they might chop me if they found out. So preferably some methods that doesn't require burning because I wouldn't want my family to smell smoke in the house. =/
Yes, there is. Take the rytal and hold it in your left hand (or right hand if you are a lefty). With your other hand opened and flat, make a cutting motion over the crystal, like you are cutting off layers of its energy field. As you make each cut, exhale slightly and intend to remove any energies in the crystal. (Remember, energy follows the intention and thought.)Make the cutting motion 3 times. Then, place your hand over the crystal. Gather energy (I usually draw in white energy from above, but some people do it differently)and allow it to flow into the crystal. Do this for several miniutes. Repeat if necessary. This works to both cleanse and charge the crystal.
You can use this on any object. If it is too big to hold in your hand, imagine that a miniture of the object is in your hand, and do the same thing. One iimportant note: do NOT do this with a living being. Cutting off energy layers from someone or something else is not good to its health.
I myself like to use a salt water bath for crystals (warning salt water can damage some crystals) There is a good article on how to do almost any thing with crystals here.
