Element Control

I'm trying to learn to master the elements. When I say master I obviously mean being able to conjure the elements and manipulate them. I already feel that I'm close to them and that it's possible. I just don't know how to go about it. And instead of sifting through all the threads for info, I decided to start my own. Any advice?

well, i started with the element i felt the most comfortable with which was water. so if your just starting out i would say to use the element your most comfortable with out of all of them and then go from there.

Okay. I feel most comfortable with Air and Water. So what do I do to actually learn how to master them?

well with water, i put a drop on a surface such as a plate.. then focus on moving it, its like telekenisis, takes alot of concentration you wont beable to do it instantly takes a lot of work ^^, and as for me well wind isnt really my element but i make my own spells and then once again concentrate and put all your thoughts and effort into it , it should work with practice, and spells you make yourself usually work better

When ever I work with elements it's usually fire. Sometimes I get a match or a tea light and stare at it (not dirrectly into it though! It burns your retnas). Then use the force of the mind and sort of will it to bend or move. I think dire would be the easiest to work with, because it moves more freely than other elements, but that's just me. Like the others have said though, its all practice, practice, practice!

Personally, I differentiate elemental magic from telekinesis. If you can move a rock with your mind, then you should be able to move fire. The mental blocks from "my element" is a little too X-Men. (Pyro can't heat up the air to create fire, Iceman can't manipulate liquid water... it's good for the plot, but kind of silly to copy when your mental discipline alone has more potential.)

That said, I've also found that telekinesis is a good exercise for understanding the matter, and understanding the matter can help you understand the whole element and not just the physical aspect... so, like they said, practice practice practice your mind. Meditate on the matter, but also try thinking like a sylph-- perceiving the world like an undine.

For example, in chapter three of Bardon's Initiation into Hermetics, you practice imagining the elements of fire, water, air, or earth around yourself as if you are immersed within a boundless sphere of a single element. Take the earth element. What is it to imagine you have within and around yourself a vast expanse of the earth element? This is the same as learning to think, feel, and perceive as a gnome.

Your mind attunes to that one element learning to amplify, condense, and transform it. After this training, it is not so difficult then to form connections and interact in a creative manner with gnomes. If you spent time concentrating on minerals, precious stones, trees, mountains, and so forth you would be undergoing the training of a gnome magician.

Actually, the last two paragraphs are directly from William Mistele-- who has a lot of good info on undines if you want to google him. Once you form connections and interact creatively with undines and sylphs (conjuring,) you can have a much deeper grasp of what elements are capable of, and how to work in harmony with them (manipulation) (or, well, "active skills" sound nicer :-P) because you'll realize the "elemental" balance within yourself.

And then you can get a patron if you'd have each other. Currently mine's Neptune, but elemental magicians seem to work a lot with kings or rulers of the quarters-- Nichsa for water and Paralda for air, if I remember correctly. Hope this helps.

basically what u need to do is meditate and do some excerise which involve the elemnt u want to study for example geokinesis is the maniuplation of earth and hyrdokinesis is water aerokinesis is and pyrokinesis is fire so just google it nd most likely u might find the excerises plus water is one of the most difficult because water itself is emotional basically unstable

these are all very good ideas but how can anyone summon the elemental spirits to aid you in your work.for example, summon a fire spirit and ask for their help in your work and the fire elemental will give you power over fire.
