I personally do not feel you need to meditate to do spells and stuff.. I just don't image like witches from the 16 century or whatever meditating. So can someone explain on how the whole meditating and magick works?
I meditate before I start writing a spell. It puts me in a frame of mind that is uncluttered. This helps me to look at what spellwork I want to do and the purpose of it. I find that an uncluttered mind also helps me see other ways I can resolve an issue and helps me determine if I have done everything else to make a change. I can than work on what I need for the spell and I am not as easily distracted.
Why don't you imagine 16th century magicians meditating? It's not like meditation is new. Besides that, meditation is pretty broad in definition; any practice of causing some beneficial change in mode of consciousness falls into its range, and most forms of spirituality have some meditational practice, just frequently of a very particular name and flavor.
scientists have found out that just 20% of the human mind are being used in everyday lives.. the remaining 80% is the subconscious mind.. this subconscious mind is very essential in practicing magick.. you can affect your surroundings and have some good information about yourself just by gaining access to your subconscious mind.. you can learn many things in your subconscious mind.. especially in summoning rituals, chanting the spells alone won't give you best results specially when you are evoking higher beings.. those being (positive or negative) might trick you if you haven't master yourself first..
and how to master the self? by the help of meditations (and yogas of course)..
Meditating is great way to focus on your energy and magick. I can't even do magick without meditation. Without meditation, magick isn't magick. I'm just sitting on my floor waiting for something to happen like an idiot.
