You sound very young. But there are different forms of love. A parent love for a child. A brother's love for a sister; and vice-versa. There is sexual love. There is the love Mankind. There is the very powerful love of sacrifice; as when a mother throws herself in front of a bus to save a child;not necessarily her own child!
That kind of love is the most powerful love of all. Jesus summed it up very well,
" No greater love hath a man than this; that he lay down his life for his friend."
Note, not wife! Not mother, father, sister brother. Not son or daughter. But "friend".
Love, as you will discover when you are older, is "giving" not "taking".
Bright Blessings (and love!)

When someone says "love", many things come to peoples minds. In my eyes love is caring for someone and their well being unconditionally. No matter what they say or do, you always care for them and do what you can to help keep them safe.

Brysing said it best. there are many types of love, and i have experienced many of them. love is an emotion and like all emotions, it's hard to express in words. my friend once discribed the love between her and her boyfriend as 'the feeling you get after eating too much candy' personally, i like that definition cuz it sounds so sweet and child-like. love it powerful and shouldn't be manipulated. it's hard for most, like myself, to love someone, but it's a bond that very little can break when you truly love someone. and i speak as a love for friend, family, bf/gf, animal, so on.

Love, as has already been said, is a very general term. But in my opinion, love can be generally defined as a great deal of affection for someone or something. To truly love someone, I feel that it isn't based on labels. You don't automatically love your bf/gf, and sometimes, in very very harsh situations in family, one can sometimes lose love for a family member. Basically to love someone, you must "love" them as a person. In most successful relationships, lovers play roles also as great friends. They love each other as people before bf/gf "love" arises. You need to have true affection for a person among any labels you have with them. For family, notice we usually respect our family for the traits they have. Because we are thankful they've been there for us, because our parents show us strength and give advice, we have this affection for them, which is another kind of love. And of course, even when loving animals, we have affection for traits they show. We love them for who they are. They are all different from one another, so we become attatched to individual pets or species and love them and relate to them. This is just a few examples, but I feel if you love someone or something, you will know. Because you will have such great affection for the person or thing, it will mean a great deal.

Even if you don't believe in the Bible, I Corinthians 13 is a very good picture of what love is.
