Consecrate vs. Blessing

What is the difference (if any) of consecrating an item vs. blessing one? Is it the same, or if not, what is the difference?

I believe the diffrence between consecration and a blessing is that when you consecrate you are dedicating the item to the use for which it is intented by making it sacred to what deity you are asking to help with whatever purpose the item is being used for.
With a blessing I think its more of a bestowing/approval of your own will and joining of divine will upon the item/person.
I believe that you can consecrate and bless an item at the same time.

someone else could probably explain this better than me as I kind of got out of bed the wrong side this morning...so my brain is a bit out of tune with the rest of me today lol!

hopefully you kind of get what I mean though.

Consecrate- Consecration is the solemn dedication to a special purpose or service, usually religious. The word "consecration" literally means "to associate with the sacred". Persons, places, or things can be consecrated, and the term is used in various ways by different groups. Blessing- A blessing, (also used to refer to bestowing of such) is the infusion of something with holiness, divine will, or one's hope or approval.



Through the definitions you can see the difference, I hope, if not Post back to this and I'll see if I can make it even clearer.

If you dedicate a specific item to a specific deity for help with a specific purpose in mind, can that item be unconsecrated once the purpose is achieved?

Let's say for example that I consecrate a candle for use with a particular spell. If I only need to use the candle once for that spell, would it be possible to consecrate that candle for another spell? I really would not like to waste a whole candle if it can be reconsecrated for another purpose.

Can this be done?

Candles are a really bad example, because one candle should only be used for one spell.

Talismans are made for a specific purpose, so those too would be a bad example.

To answer your question, yes it is possible, but there really shouldn't ever be a need for it.

also if you don't want to waste a candle, buy smaller candles.
