The interval of fluff/fiction

Greetings fellow practitioners. This will be a long post. So i have seen many times posts on which there are comments saying this and that is impossible and or can not be accomplished by means of magick. These are usually the can I fly/ turn into a vampire posts. But many times the individuals who say these things are impossible have written about 'certain gods'. The gods comments are usually: ('name of a god') likes this and that and I suggest you do this to be 'closer' to them. In addition I will extend this to the incenses, crystals, wands, circles and all other props. So what is the interval of 'fiction/fluff'? Would the 'turn into a vampire' youngsters be completely wrong if they say crystals have no 'magickal power', or that all pantheons are fiction. If they'd be wrong how would you support your claim. I hope it won't seem like I am being disrespectful to the gods.

The line grows dim as you delve farther in. For something like crystals I can back that up because they are energy formed to create something unique. Other people have tapped into and experienced the side effects certainly crystals bring and I have to. When it gets deeper into lets say divinations, I would back that up by knowing something will happen, and then it happens. If you have proof that there is cause and effect you will proove you have a legitimate practice.

To me, its all about odds and changing odds to be in your favor. The rest is just semantics, words and ritual actions.

Anyone can write or believe whatever, but the cut off is about the odds. Something impossible will never happen and if people want to play fantasy or whatever fine, im too busy and -or impatient with silliness. Im busy figuring out ways to make odds better for myself.

Theres no disrespect in your question, its pertinent. But im not the brightest bulb either, so I hope i kind of addressed it.

Actually I discourage fantasy and or fictional magick. But I think some people draw the line too close. A lot of these 'magickal' practices fall under that category.

What are some examples do you think?

Someone goes ahead and says: (incense name) is helpful when summoning (god's name). Wouldn't this fall under fiction.

Not really if you believe that you have to attume your own mind and surroundings into being in a state which is conducive to the enitity in question. Certain scents have physiological effects, scent is also intimately linked to emotion and nostalgia. Therefore it could be argued scent has an effect psychologically on the practitioner.

If you are summoning a spirit which is of a fiery nature, then a burning strong incense will be more conducive and will attune the mind more to such natures than a sweet, fresh scent. That is why Frankincense is considered a staple in solar rites and Jasmine is a staple in lunar rites.

There is logic behind occultism, it is not just "Do X because Z said so." Sadly, most people on this site cannot pick up a book written before the 1970s new age.

I agree with Hadit.

@Untdkngdm: No, it does not make it fiction. It either means they are speaking from personal experience, or from something they have read.

Monas let us talk about the crystals. Well the same crystal might have two different effects on two different people.

Mrs.Kaos so what if from an incense I experience something different from you? Am I still allowed to write my experience down? Also do comment on the fact that the names of the gods have not yet been confirmed. That is absolutely true and was an important factor in my response.
