How exactly do I perform one that works?

Take a piece of paper. Write down the name of the person you'd wish to contact you and under their name, put call and your name. Usually only works if the person knows you. Envision them in your head calling you, while raising yellow energy (for communication) into the paper. Take a white or yellow candle (or just a lighter) and burn the piece of paper in a fire-safe bowl. Afterwards, set the bowl by a an open window while it is still smoking. This will cause the smoke to go out into the universe and for your pleas to be heard. Pretty soon you should have your call. Just make sure to know deep within your heart that this person will call you. Never doubt, just do and know.

Do you have to do a protection speel when doin these spells dont wont bad things to happen

Just make sure that your intentions are pure. All you're doing is suggesting to the person they call you, not actually making them call you.
