Not going 2 post forms

I don't want any-one to think I'm begin rude but not going to post in forms or comment any more as I'm worried about getting gagged as this keeps coming up. People are basically saying you can get gagged for anything. I'm happy to speak to people & make friends so your welcome to inbox me. Will just post in my coven. I just wanted to say I've really enjoyed chatting to some of you I have done in forms but sad I haven't had a chance to meet every-one but I wish you all the best.

That is a shame as your comments always seem very nice, especially on the introductions.

I have not been here very long, could someone please tell me what kind of things you can get gagged for?

Thanks hun, I've not been here too long either so don't know apart from what I've been told, apparently people have said for using capital letters or even having spelling mistakes :-/ I'm dyslexic so I find this a bit un-fair.

I don't go into chat often for that exact reason. The forums seem ok. I haven't been gagged or heard of anyone being gagged because of a forum post, although I guess it could happen if you were really insulting and cursing. Nothing I've seen in your posts would cause a problem, I think.

LVX,

Shawn.

You won't be gagged on the forums for spelling mistakes, an occasional "lol" or a smiley face. I've been here over a year and have done all three. In fact, I commonly end my posts with various smiley faces, sometimes just because, other times as a way to show I'm joking (because some can't read humor well).

However chat is much stricter. So if you're afraid of being gagged due to the way you type, just stay away from chat and you'll be fine. No need to stop posting on the forum. I've seen people here brutalize the english language and were never gagged until they decided to wander into the chat room.

The rules can be found here:
http://www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html?ritual=1944&coven=1

Scroll down to where it says "Important Things To Avoid in Chat & On The Site in General:" And read the information there.

They are very simple to abide by, I would say that there are some exceptions on the forums, such as text speak - as long as it is readable and understandable - although it should be refrained from all together. They are simple common sense things, it really isn't much to ask.

I assure you you will not get gagged for something so fickle and common as a spelling error - as long as the spelling error doesn't turn out to be a bad word.

I hope this helps, and I hope to still see you post around.

The above post is right, the chat room is harsher on the rules. I have been here for some time and I have notice a few things that will get you banned.

Religion debate. Even if you are just explaining about a religion or the history you can still get banned if someone or a mod is offended.

Being rude. Somewhat understandable but if you are being rude to a troll you are warned/banned.

Upsitting a mod. If you disagree with a Mod in anyway, depending on which Mod you disagree with, you will get banned.

Sending a message to Pet (Site owner). Asking questions about why you got gagged or removed.

I only log in 2 or 3 times a week and I still do posts.

I think many people have the wrong idea about this. Let me attempt to clear things up:

You are not going to get gagged (or banned, which is even more unlikely) silly-nilly. A gag happens for a reason: A person has clearly broken some rule. If you are concerned that you may break a rule, here is a link to the rules and a link to the survival guide which explains the rules and how they are applied in context. It explains why certain rules are in place.

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/chat_rules.html

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html?ritual=1944&coven=1

These are not even remotely difficult to follow. The main reason gags happen, in my opinion, is that members are too lazy to read all of the rules, or to simply follow the few that exist. Some common ones include typing in caps in the chatter, using text speak, and so on. The chatter is a bit more strict with the rules than the forums- and I think the forums allow for a bit more leniency. It's okay to put things like "lol" or smiley emoticons in your forum posts, like WhiteRav3n said. You aren't going to be in trouble for that. So long as your forum post contains no inappropriate content (cursing and such), is not rude or arguing personally with someone, and is readable, not spam, it will be perfectly fine. So why stop posting?

Nash threw the word banned around a lot. In truth, bans are not common things around here and I don't think members need to be worried of being 'banned'. Follow the rules and you'll be fine. Don't follow the rules, and you'll probably find yourself with a gag. Continually break the rules, even after a gag, and you may find yourself facing a ban. That's the worse-case scenario, and I think it's pretty rare for someone to get to that state.

In all honesty, I don't see the problem and I don't think you need to be worried of being gagged. I think it would be a shame for members to stop posting in the forum for that reason. Post all you want, share all you want, talk all you want. Just make sure to read over the rules and know them- then you'll be fine around here. There really aren't that many. And they really aren't that hard to follow.

As always, if you aren't sure about something or need someone to discuss this with you, I am available and happy to help/answer any question to the best of my ability.
