Material things and luxuries are not what make you happy. What makes you happy is giving up those luxuries and material things for the good of others and knowing that you do not need them.
What makes you happy inside is not just doing the job but doing the job right. Until you have sweaty palms and your brain aches you are not doing the job right.
Happiness is an emotion,not a direction. It is opposite to sadness. Satisfaction of a "job well done", is not happiness; it is contentment. Not quite the same thing.
To be fair some people do get happiness from their job or social stature. You can't say what makes another person happy, they need to discover it for themselves.

Nakoshema im sorry but unfortunately i disagree with you, i have found happiness in both minimising friends and distancing family and disconnecting myself from the material.i guess then there are 3 types of 'happy people' already...
