Moon Phases
By:
Hi All,

This may seem silly to some but am still rekataviley a newbie!

Does a new moon phase start as soon as the clock strikes midnight or does it start the next day?
Example the new moon phase, did it start last night (monday) at midnight or tonight (tuesday) after the sun set?

Cheers all :)

It depends. The rotation of the Moon relative to Earth dictates its current phase. Their positions relative to one another can take place any time of day. I personally do not know when exactly the new moon phase began.

However, usually it's safe to look at a calendar that marks it down for you and go with the night of the day it was scheduled for. That being said, I would go with tonight.

Depends on who you ask. But I believe that the period of a moon phase starts 3 days before the moon enters the middle/"fullest part" of the moon cycle. Oh sorry, your question, if you ask me started it for 3 days ago (in my timezone)
