I was just wondering how can someone apply to become a moderator?

You cannot apply to be a moderator.

Moderators are chosen from members who have proven themselves mature, knowledgable and responsible around the site.

Being a moderator is in my opinion a hard job and an honor because while some members may be disrespectful towards your position it means your respected by fellow members and considered mature enough to hold such a position. I don't think moderators are chosen very often because choosing someone isn't easy or shouldn't be. As said they want people who are knowledgeable so they can advise other members and will not abuse the position so finding just the right person is probably difficult and isn't likely a split second decision.

As has been said, you can't apply to become a Moderator. In fact asking to be a Mod is perhaps the fastest way to never become one. Mods are chosen when they have been on the board for a long time, have demonstrated they have sound knowledge, and they contribute to the boards on a regular basis.
