I wonder?

A thought again if I may. I wonder how many of us actually stop and consider how the different sets of elements combine and coinside together when we work magick. It seems that in all the things that we do be it ritual, or spells, or whatever we just invoke the elements and boom go right too work. Now that is a good concept for a balancing ritual or a work that is used for clensing. But when we think about it if water and fire do not mix well together in real life then why would we call forth both in a work that is based in the fire element or whatever ect. The term or phrase if you will as above so below is right. But so is as below so above. So wouldn't it be prudent to take a larger look into the elements that you call forth and actually see how they play into each other and work for or aginst each other. Just wondering.

Very interesting topic Dillon, I love the question you present.

I actually disagree with people sometimes thinking Fire and Water don't "mix" together well. My question is why not? Why do these two elements not mesh well or rather, why do people think this? I have yet to see a legitimate reason as to why.

If you look at the periodic table the elements are simply matter in its most basic forms, they cannot be divided any further before getting just simple atoms. They differ between each other only their number of protons, that's it (not getting into ions and bonding here). Say you have iron and oxygen, two very different elements but they can be combined.
A very simply put example using the periodic table...

The spiritual elements can in a way, be looked at in the same manner. Under certain conditions Fire and Water work perfectly together. For instance the purification value of fire is used in a ritual to purify a container of liquid making it distilled water proper for usage.
A more literal combination is steam. In herbalism steam is useful for muscle relaxers and so on.

I can go on and on but my point is that using multiple elements, in complete regards to their properties, is perfectly acceptable and often does not violate balance.

Very interesting but in physical world Water and Fire give steam or smoke which is Air element which gets colder in the sky making it a cloud and it might create rain at some point...But you have to think ona level higher than magic cause Fire done by magic is no where near as powerful as a Fire done by a Fire Element, for example...

Yes that is true when water is affected by fire. It boils and becomes steam but it really never ceases to be water. Fire on the other hand is doused by water because water cuts off the flow of oxygen which fire must have to survive as its simple form. So fire requires Earth and Air but it cannot live in water. Now fire as light and heat are different stories but these are different aspects of the element.

Yes but Fire needs something to burn on so that's Earth,by pouring Water on fire you just cut out the Fire and leave ashes which is in my opinion still Earth element...
Yeah Power is divided into Abilities and Elements(Magic is one of the Elements, accoridng to Omnitheism)

None of the Elements is independable,Water needs Air and Earth,Fire needs Air and Earth,Earth needs Water and Air and Air needs Fire and Water...The 5th Element on the other hand doesn't need any of them.

I have heard in the Druid path that they give special due to Earth, Sky, and Sea. This is correct in my view. Earth, Air, and Water are the three basest of the five. I believe that Air is the balance between Water and Earth.Because Air exists in Water and is affected by Water. The Earth is affected by Air in its shapeing and life. If we were not here the only way to spread seed would be Air. And the Earth can and does exist where Air cannot go.

I think the fifth element does balance but it is not thee balance. I think it is created by the combanation of the four.
