About candles

I can see candles are necessary in many spells. I just always wondered what's the use of candles in magic. What's so special about their colour and whether they have a scent or not? Can someone help me with this?

I have never heard of scent affecting a spell but colours have always been part of witchcraft. Green represent wealth and luck, red represents power and lust and so on. Its symbols, just as the ancient Egyptian ankh represented life. They represent your intentions.

Candles aren't necessary. They may help by creating a mood and if you like them you should use them. I just had to say it.

Candles are not necessary, the flame is either used as a focal point, as a representation of the element fire, to set the mood, or as light source. The only time a candle is necessary is in candle magick where the candle itself is charged for a purpose and the action of it burning down releases the energy slowly.
