I'm not sure but i think Wicca is a religion, not a craft. (I'm a pagan so, yeah.)

Hi im not sure about teaching wicca ive been a wiccan for seven years now and i have 3 top books for you to read, Wicca by scott cunningham- he tells us all the basic knowelage of casting a circle to the roots of the religion. Now as you are a begginer i reccomend reading The Inner Temple Of Witchcraft, its a book that is a course that lasts 361 days and you follow this coarse day by day learning and gaining knowledge of witchcraft. It may not be classified on wicca but it practicly fills you in in everything you need so yh read that book and most of his. Another writer is silver ravenwolf i love her alot of wiccans are against her but her book silver ravenwolf the solitary witch i found great and helped fill in more on what scott cunningham said. then you will feel alot more ready to start. hope this helps also i reccomend not doing spells untill you aquire knowlegae on how to cast one thanks anthony x

Wicca is a not a craft

Wicca = religion
Witchcraft = craft
While MOST (Not all) Wiccans are witches it does not make them the same thing

"While MOST (Not all) Wiccans are witches it does not make them the same thing"

There has been some debate on this recently, and it seemed a bit empassioned so I'd like to just clear this up a hair.

You can hold Wiccan belief without practicing witchcraft, but to be a proper Wiccan you must perform at least a certain rudimentary amount of witchcraft for certain rituals and observations. Some people feel that only that latter group should be called Wiccans and that those who don't perform the required witchcraft should be given some other title like "non-observant Wiccan" or "of Wiccan belief" or some such.

A rough equivalent to a Wiccan who does not practice witchcraft would be a Christian who does not go to church.

I agree with chiron.
Too often, the words Wiccan and Witch are used to describe the same thing / term , but in fact they have two very different meanings even though these can be sometimes hotly debated. For those who are unfamiliar with or confused about the terms Wiccan and Witch, here is a basic overview of their meanings.

Wicca is an earth-honoring, polytheistic religion that was founded in the 1950s by Gerald Gardner. It is a mixture of reconstructed ancient Pagan beliefs and modern magickal practices. Wiccans celebrate the eight sabbats and utilize the energy of nature in ritual spellwork. There are a variety of different branches of Wicca called traditions which include Alexandrian, Gardnerian , Dianic and many others. Those who practice the Wicca religion are called wiccans. wiccans believe that all things are interconnected and that all thoughts and actions can have a positive or negative influence, which is reflected in the threefold belief that all things that one does is returned to them threefold.
They practice magickal spellwork but this is not done to manipulate or harm anyone or anything. It is a delicate art that takes knowledge,practice and patience. They all follow the wiccan rede though, it is also something that makes different between wiccans and witches.

Although both Wiccans and Witches practice magickal spellwork, that is basically where the similarity ends.
Witches practice magick and revere their gods and goddesses in their own way and do not typically practice ritual in the highly precise ways that are typical to many Wiccans.
People who are Witches are knowledgeable in the properties of healing herbs, spellwork, divination, working with spiritual and natural energies and many other things. The practice of Witchcraft is not associated with any religion so a person can be both a witch and a practitioner of any number of religions or they may not practice a religion at all. But as I said every one can be a witch, but the word "wicca" is not to definition if witchcraft. In a nutshell, Wicca is a religion and Witchcraft is not. Just keep in mind, "All Wiccans are Witches, but not all Witches are Wiccan."

As for the teacher, you do not need one to learn. You will find here many people who can help though. If you want to be a wiccan, follow this religion. If you want to be just a witch start practicing and develop your skills. That is all what I can tell you.But please remember the things I mentioned about witches and wiccans, because it seems that you are mistaking the two terms.
