some explaining required

Allright, on this site as most of you well know there are an almost ungodly number of people who either think they are vampires, or believe that some kind of spell or ritual can turn you into a vampire. Where does this come from? In traditional vampire mythology, vampires had nothing to do with magick! They weren't great magicians or sages, they were vile beasts, monsters! Where does this connection between vampires and magick come from?

Well besides the fantasy fiction in books and movies...

Vampiric magick is a fairly new term.

Aleister Crowley has included some vampiric magick in his writings. I'm not sure who has the spotlight now.

Most neo necromancers now mix death magick and vampiric magick because they believe that psychic vampirism will reverse any ill effects of the death energy.

Vampiric magick in its most basic form is magick that focuses on drawing energies and the use of mental magick. It has nothing to do with biting people. Its old magick gathered together with newer magick and given a "cool" name.

There is also blood magick that is a toned down version of sacrificial magick. Instead of killing people or animals, the blood magick practicioner goes to his local butcher or cuts himself (very unhealthy!)

So yes, it does coincide but not at all in the way that the role players portray it.
