I would suggest you have a look at all the member's profiles, and contact the ones you might be interested in. The spelling of the word does not matter much; magic or magick. Levels of magic? Learning the basics is hard enough! High magic? That takes years of study. and can be highly dangerous. In any case, you would need a personal tutor for the higher forms.

The K in magic was added by Mr. Crowley. It's designed such that when a person reads it they know there is a difference between Magic that an illusionist (magician) does, and the Magick that we as witches use.

Just so that there is no confusion

This is also how Crowley defined magick- is defined as "the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with the will", including both "mundane" acts of will as well as ritual magic. Crowley claimed that "it is theoretically possible to cause in any object any change of which that object is capable by nature"

Crowley saw magick as the essential method for a person to reach true understanding of the self and to act according to one's True Will, which he saw as the reconciliation "between freewill and destiny."

Since the time of Crowley's writing about magick, many different spiritual and occult traditions have adopted the K spelling, but some have redefined what it means to some degree. For some modern occultists, it refers strictly to paranormal magic, which involves influencing events and physical phenomena by supernatural, mystical, or paranormal means.

Crowley provided some further statements about the nature of magick as he defined it (from the Introduction to Magick, Book 4):
"Every intentional (Willed) act is a Magickal act."
"Magick is the Science of understanding oneself and one's conditions. It is the Art of applying that understanding in action."
For Crowley, the practice of magick—-although it equally applies to mundane things, like balancing the checkbook—-is essentially to be used for attaining the Knowledge and Conversation of one's Holy Guardian Angel (which he believed was the first step necessary for spiritual attainment). Since achieving this state with one's "Silent Self" can be extremely arduous, magick can be used not only to reach that particular goal, but to clear the way for it as well.

Give thanks to wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magick (the sources for this post are actually very good.)

There's your first lesson on what magick is Secret, now roll with it and start researching some of the basics.

basics: Visualization, understanding moon phases, who are the gods and goddesses, color, tools, energy flow and how to control it, how to write your own spells, how to make a spell work, why spells go wrong, grounding and centering, and shielding and circle casting, just to get you started.

Perhaps Aleister Crowley put the K in magick because he wanted to be different from everybody else. He certainly thought himself superior to everybody else; including Gardner. I read a lot of Crowley when I was a young man. I thought him evil in the extreme.

I have to agree with Brysing, I know I'm getting off topic, but I don't understand all of the "worship" over Crowley. He was a disgusting man. Not saying anyone here is like that, but I have met a few people in my day that seem to think Crowley was the best thing that ever happened.

I have to admit i quite like Crowley, a original non-conformist.

whether people see him as good or evil is a different thing. I follow LaVeys philosophy "good is what you like, evil is what you don't like"

Maybe Crowley thought himself better than Gardner because he far out ranked him in OTO, and even had his words, rituals and everything else in between altered by Gardner allegedly...after Crowley's death of course.

It isn't the first time Gardner has been accused of not having an original thought.
