Mugwort to induce trance
By:
I was wondering if there is a way with the help of mugwort to induce a trance/sleep paralysis. For now, I don't want it for lucid dreaming only for trance in order to have an astral projection..
Thank you everyone .

The way mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) helps with vivid and sometimes lucid dreams, and altared states of consciousness is that it contains small amounts of the substance Thujone, which is a mild hallucinogen. It is the same chemical present in wormwood, which gives absinthe its mind altering properties.

In very small amounts, such as a cup of mugwort tea, it will not send a person on any sort of trip or journey. In fact, most people would not notice any effects while awake from so little. However, it may aid in meditation-based exercises such as astral projection, and can cause more active dreams -- inducing lucidity for some, and possibly triggering a more emersive experience for some (such as more realistic sensory perception within the dream).

Beware seeking sleep paralysis, though, as it can be a terrifying experience. Yes: some may use it as a way to asltral project, but when the brain has not woken up the body, and the mind is aware of one's surroundings during a hypnogogic state, some really bad experiences can be had -- especially if there's a little bit of dream boosting thujone making the waking dreams more active.

As I said in another post, why do you want to induce sleep paralysis? Sleep paralysis has nothing to do with trance states or astral projection. Sleep paralysis is a normal process that some encounter when they are in the state between waking and sleeping. It is nothing mystical.

Yes there is a big difference. Where sleep paralysis is as Lark stated, a trance state is basically an altered state of consciousness other than what is generally experienced when awake.

Yes, you're looking for a trance state, not sleep paralysis. They are in now way the same thing.

Mugwort itself will not induce a trance unless yoy consume enough to cause harm. The level of Thujone is not enough to cause a psychedelic episode.

You are better off practicing meditation amd visualization, and working on putting yourself into altered states of consciousness. A bit of mugwort may enhance yhe experience once you are able to put yourself into a trance state.

There are some very interesting phenomena which happen when the brain wants more stumuli. Staring at one's own face in a mirror, for example, will induce a mild effect in which the brain begins to interpret the same face in different ways, hence the bizarre visual aberrations some people see -- and in a trance state, some claim to see amd communicate with 'others.' Who exactly may depend on belief and desire. Sensory deprivation also sends people through some down-right insane experiences.

In a trance state, some similar things may happen. It's why astral projection amd other forms of journeying work best in a trance-like state: the mind is seeking stimuli. It may be found in 'another realm' so to speak
