Dead Dinner

I know samhain is alittle ways away but I've heard of something called a dead dinner and what you're suppose to do is have a meal outside (can be formal or informal) you set a place for you and a guest or just you with food (either honoring your heritage or even your favorite food) and set a place for the spirits and eat in silence I'm not sure for the rest of it if anyone has any other information please let me know I would love to do this

This is most commonly called a dumb supper and as you say it's a usually silent meal you enjoy with your ancestors. A quick Google search for 'dumb supper' brings up a large number of websites with information, though an excellent guide to ancestor work generally can be found on The Witch of Forest Grove blog here, http://witchofforestgrove.com/2010/10/29/ancestral-altars-rituals/
