Hello there and Merry Meet! I thought i would try to make few post on herbs that are known in pagan cultures. This is really rare herb i believe and its really hard for me to find it. But i thought i would share some information on what i know about it.

What is Meadow Sweet? And What is it use for in Pagan Religons?

Meadow sweet comes from perennial herb that is grown in the family Rosacea, Meadow sweet can be found through the land of Europe and Western areas. Meadow sweet also different varity of flavors and scents. Many believe that is has the scent of wintergreen, and sweet almond fragance. Its wrinkled in dark green leaves and with of about a 3 foot reddish stalks.

Meadow sweet was used in medical type fields, can be used to cure headachces, arthritis, rheumatism. It is known to cure stomach aches or upset stomaches becuase it believed that is easy on the stomach. It also used for feverish colds, diarrah, and heartburns.

In history, Meadowsweet has maintained its usefulness in the home. Housewives used the plant in their cleaning routine, drying clusters of tiny white florets and placing them on the floor and in cabinets to mask unpleasant odors. Cooks used the herb to flavor beers, meads and wines and added it to soups for an interesting almond flavor. As a cosmetic, it was soaked in rainwater and used as astringent and skin conditioner. Many pagans and wiccans use Meadow Sweet for aid in divination. And Bundles of dried Meadow Sweet where placed around the home to help keep your house hold safe and peaceful.
