The Ego

Has anyone wondered that an egoistic spell won't work? I personally believe the Ego is the cause for some of the bad things in the world. In Judaism Satan is the Ego. Your opinions on the ego?

I beleive the ego is to be sacrificed to the higher self. Like the story of Odin, Sacrifice thyself unto thyself. The ego is to become a vehicle of consciousness, integrated and not running amok.

I totally agree with the second post. If you have a big ego, it can get in the way, but you can use it to help people(probably) and sacrifice it in a way to better things.

In my opinion the ego cannot be sacrifice and I honestly do not understand what or how can you "Sacrifice" your ego. Can you elaborate that more clearly?

By sacrifice i mean sacrifice. You give your ego up to your higher self, you move beyond the pettiness of ego-fueled desire. You reclaim your identity, most people mistake their egos for themselves. In claiming your power this way you repurpose all of that energy from your ego and allow it to be born anew as your higherself (gradually).

Sorry if i was unclear.

I doubt there are many people who would admit to being an egotist that truly knew what it was. I.e. How it affects them and others. And i will say unfortunatly, this is not a hinderance to making things happen in the universe it just limits what is possible.

The Ego is merely a "mental concept" by Sigmund Freud to explain "desire", or "ambition". The Id is the the basic instincts we are born with. The Super-ego, or "conscience" is what controls the other two from being "out of control". The basic instinct when we "desire" something is to take it; steal! The super-ego tries to stop us from doing it.
The basic instinct of a man is to have sex with as many females as possible. The super-ego tells him that's a bad idea!
You should read "The Ego And The Id", by Sigmund Freud. He coined both words!
