Helpful steps

I feel that when some people come to this site and they are a beginner, they get a little confused and say they need help. The sad about this is you can't really get any help because you don't exactly know what you want to do yet or what aspects of the occult ,traditions or religions etc listed on this site. So what I would like to suggest to beginners is

Figure out your interests:

Find out what interests you. Is there any sort of beliefs you may already have that kind of already goes along with a certain path. Maybe you want to form your own practices and make your own path that is also fine.

Know your dislikes:

What are some things that you would consider turnoffs or maybe things in certain traditions and paths that may make you feel uncomfortable. Try to think about those things that you don't like or maybe don't understand. Also if you feel like certain words like a occult, pagan, magick. ( magic is sometimes spelled with a K to differentiate from stage magic) have negative connotations maybe you need to rethink on these things and figure out what you want.

Read on different practices and traditions:

Books will be very useful tools for learning various subjects. Look into researching different paths and traditions and see what fits you. You may agree with certain things of a certain practice yet you disagree with some of the traditions associated with that path that Is ok if you find something from a certain practice you like use it. Pulling things from different traditions is OK just as long as you are doing things that are making you comfortable and the certain things fits your needs use it.

Decide if you want to get into Magick:

Is magick something that interests you. Magick to someone may be different from someone else. Magick doesn't have a very exclusive definition. Magick can purely mean to you change or transformation of state . Opening and closing a door could be Magick to someone so really look into different magickal practices
Don't worry so much about a teacher
While have a guide can be helpful. Nobody will completely understand your needs or may not have some of the same views you have. Asking questions is probably the best thing to do and read books. You will find more on what it is exactly that you need.

I hope I was able to help if anyone disagrees with something I said by all means say so I am always subject to mistakes.

Just started today and having a little trouble figuring everything out but I'm sure in due time all will reveal itself. I'm just looking for a group of people who have knowledge on powerful spells and would be willing to teach me. What I lack in the spiritual I make up for in the physical aspect

There really isn't a powerful spell. The strength of your spells comes from your Will and your intent.

Good compression!
But,in my point of view, don't you think you should add up some 'beginning steps' such as meditation, visualization and grounding?
