I'm 14 and I see a coven that I really find interest in, how come there has to to be a age limit? It's not fair to the younger ones who want to learn more than what they already know from experts of a coven of their choosing

It's mostly a matter of maturity. Some covens may make an exception, but that's completely up t them. There are plenty of covens on here that do not set an age requirement.

In some cases it is a legal issue. Here in the USA it is against the law to teach about religions such as Wicca without the consent of the parents. So most reliable groups will not take on anyone until they are legally an adult as to do otherwise could land them in jail.

But what if our parents don't know? I love magic and I love to learn but no one would understand me

If your parents don't know and you don't have their permission to do this then any coven that accepts you could either have its members taken to court and forced to pay heavy fines or they could be sent to jail. So they aren't going to put their own families and careers at risk to do something that is illegal no matter how much you want it.

Of course you could always join one of the covens here on SOM. Many of them don't have that sort of requirement.

A lot of Covens have age restrictions for maturity and legal reasons, some also have 'red flags' against people who say "I don't want my parents to know" due mainly to legal reasons.

Though if you didn't want your parents to know, don't go on a site called 'Spells of Magic' where it's banner is literally 'Where the world learnsblack magic, white magic, pagan, wiccan and occult arts'. They can check your browsing history and search bar autofill.

Again it is more for the protection of the Covens and the Minors attempting to join. Especially because some Covens discuss topics that are at least R16.

So, Maturity and Legal matters are what drives us to have age restrictions.
