What Makes a Spell Work?

I've been wondering to myself, "if these spells really work, why haven't they become a known fact?"
I'm guessing that it's because not everyone can perform certain spells, but what makes them work in the first place?

Personally, I believe it's a mixture between "otherworldly" entities and your own mind power making things happen. There are certain spells I would like to do, but, I feel bad chanting certain things like, "I will do your bidding," when I'm not ready or willing to serve a deity or god-like entity.

Please tell me what you think.

Well, in my years, I have learned that spells are literally energy workings, will, intent, and belief. All these four things can make a spell work.

The reason spells are not known fact is because the scientists do not fully believe in spell nor magic. Therefore, the spells will not work for them.

Finally, I you are not ready to serve a specificdeity, then don't stress. We all went through that phase. So take it slow. Learn about the deity and make sure that deity is for you.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for responding and for your advice.

Just a quick question:
What spells do you find work for you?
I realize that not all of the spells on this site are possible (like turning into a wolf, ect;), but to hear what has worked for people will help boost my confidence in what I'm casting (and hopefully, that will also make the chances of it working better.)

Personally, I work with healing and protection spells. Occasionally, I will work on some things outside of those two but really rare.

Also, depending on your religion, how you are raised, and/or your environment it could influence what type of spells you use.

Also hope this helps.

Banishing, protection, contact, elemental, and energy spells work pretty well for me.

Always remember, you CAN cast any spell you choose as long as your intent is there and you have the will to make it happen.

Best advice i was given on magick is this, "If a first you dont succeed try and try again."

Most people who come to these boards fail at magic because they don't understand how and why magic works and don't care to take the time to learn and practice what they are doing. And of course there are limitations to what magic can and cannot do which are often ignored.

A couple of good books that I recommend to better get a grasp on the process of magic are:

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar
"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson
"Modern Magick" by Donald Craig

What you seem to be doing is following a mistaken idea the spell itself, perhaps by the way spells are worded, have power. They don't.

This spell will work. Well I'm sorry but it won't, not by itself. Words are just words and drawings (symbols) are just drawings. They are inert. They are lifeless. Burning a candle is just burning a candle and dressing up in fancy gear is merely getting dressed.

It's you that empowers any of these aids. They are nothing without you. Depending on how much you put in, they can become very powerful.

In my opinion, a spell works if you want that spell to work! It is about your beliefs and your will:) Our bodies are charged with energy and our Universe is full of that energy, You can control that energy with you will and you can use it for good or for bad, that is your decision:)

The question how to be a success when it comes to spell casting is being asked very frequently and there are some main factors of success that certainly affect the spell and its outcomes.

Firstly (something it is not necessary), I always tell my personal behavior after the spell being cast which is indeed still affect the spell even though it has been already cast. I recommend not to think much or talk about the spell after casting it otherwise negative energy can be easily released by doing so, and it might horribly disturb the original energy which has been sent and raised for the sake of the spell that was cast. That is a tip though.

Now to the real vital factors that make spells work (what spells are based on).

Spell work is based on a very simple principle: Energy.
It is very simple, spells are very basic forms of energy shifting and changing.
A spell is a term used to define a sort of spiritual tool which is used to direct energy and raise it up upon a specific desire and / or intent.
So the first thing that makes a spell successful is a qualified energy work (building up energy and raising it). This is actually what the spell is so you surely need enough experience with energy work to be a success.

Beyond that, there are quite some other factors that make a spell successful.
One example of this is the use of a proper spell. Some criteria the spell should stand for includes the following:
*The spell has to fit your intentions and desires accurately so the outcomes will be similar to what you need specifically.
*The most important thing here is to have a spell which potentially works. If you use a spell associated with fluffy term it obviously won't work.
*You should be mentally convinced on the spell's affects, the confidence is indeed a factor.

Besides that, very basic thing such as concentration and focus are of course needed.

Finally, the optional tips (for people who need this). Please keep in mind that those tips are fully optional however they help going through the process of spells.
The tips happen to be stored here, check them out if you need by seeing this link:

Another thing, everyone here has seen the spells that have like 10 different things you "need" to cast it. Well, id like to say that those things are mostly just props. You dont "need" them to cast. What you need is just intent and will.
