New to Spell Casting

I am new to spell casting. Can anyone be my mentor and guide me on how to properly perform a spell? I will be working with herbal and candle magic. I know the basics, but I am confused on how the lunar and planetary alignments coincide with the spell itself. Does anyone want to offer reference and guidance other than the infamous words, "just google it"?

This link might help with Moon phases. May I ask what religion you follow? Some paths don't even believe Moon phase affects magick.
