Realistic Demon Hunting?

Before anyone starts with a lecture about roleplaying, fluffies, or not understanding celestial entities, I am not looking for a description of how to be a cast member of Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or anything like that. I know not all demons are bad, I know how to deal with the bad ones I've seen so far, and I have experience in dealing with spirits. I'm not a newbie looking for a fictional world to get lost in.

What I'm wondering is if anyone actually goes out looking for haunted places where they encounter bad celestial entities (angels, demons, etc), bad spirits, or any other creatures. What tools are used? Any particular charms, totems, or rituals? I would really like to hear some stories about how it works and what people who do this experience. What preparations need to be made and is there much cleaning work after it's done? Any advice for someone who would want to get involved with that?

My experience is mostly a run of bad luck I had to clean up. Friends and family end up with haunted houses, ticking off non-physical entities, etc. They call me to give a cleansing ritual, put up some charms and protective sigils, then provide a blessing. I know some Taoist, Shinto, and Buddhist prayers, blessings, and rituals from an off-site teacher. I admit I'm semi-new to this site, but not at all new to my practice. I wouldn't mind expanding how many people I help, but I'd like to know more about what that line of work might be like first.

You would probably enjoy reading the book "The Demonologist" by Ed and Lorraine Warren before getting involved in such things. They were amateurs in my opinion, but what they encountered was far from insignificant. I disagree that all that they "fought" were "demons" because I believe the word is over used. I think most of them were nothing more than very angry spirits of the dead or land spirits.

I'll be totally honest with you, no one that truly knows how to deal with such situations is going to advocate "hunting" or explain in detail how to on a public forum with most readers being entirely new to magick. This is an advanced magick topic that could get many kids into serious trouble. It would be best discussed in a coven that does spirit work. Do a little digging and find one.

I must admit my knowledge and experience on the subject is limited, but it would be best, well for spirits at least to go with raven or bear(if not going alone) totems(N. American Indians) or to bring along a cat if you have a blessing from Egyptian gods(although that one could be iffy). Well that would be my first choices.

Thanks for the advice, WhiteRav3n. I didn't think about the risk of discussing advanced topics in a public forum, that's a good point. Any suggestions on where to start for a coven?

Thanks, Fenriel. I have a raven totem from the Tlingit tribe. It was a gift from a friend. I have a Russian Blue cat that follows me especially when I'm getting ready to perform a ritual. I don't know about a blessing from an Egyptian deity, but I won't tell the cat to shoo if he wants to stick around.

Just to point aot nobody says celestial entaties (let me gues you watch fairy tail cause thats the only place I know that uses a even simular term) its just entaties, or if you wish a synonym would be astral creatures, if im not mistaken than celestial would be like a formation of stars or the visible sky related, in no way related to entities

Very interesting topic. Ive been trying to evoke demons for a while to help me with my spellwork and all, however it never worked. I tried the ouija board several times but could never really figur out whether it was me who was moving the pointer or not. wonder what you all think about that?

Iggatago, trying to invoke demons is like playing with fire, might seem like it would be cool, but ultimately you get burned I wouldn't, there are plenty entaties who are not demons trye one od those instead (and f.y.i. Your supposed to call upon a specific one not random so you must know what ever entatie you are trying to invoke for your spellwork that goes for demons gods and anything in between)

Celestial beings refer to the higher intelligence of planetary and astrological influence. They are literally those found in the "heavens" or stars that surround us. It's a pretty old term. A couple hundred years old at least, found mostly in the older occult literature. They are believed to be separate from angels, demons, and elemental spirits but some would argue that. Henry Cornelius Agrippa writes in great detail about celestial magick, the nature of celestial forces and the like. Fairy Tail was not the first and the term is far from fiction.

I know some people will hunt or fight spirits mostly on the spiritual plane and not involving the physical plane as much as possible.

Sorry for any confusion, I was taught offline by a guy who was self taught. He defined "Celestial entity" as an Angelic entity. Demons, Fallen Angels, Angels, and anything on par with their anatomy could be classified as "Celestial." Celestial refers to Heavenly and these entities supposedly originated in Heaven.

We are aware that our terms are not always the same as other people's and that can make communicating ideas and theories difficult, especially with identifying entities of any kind. However the practice; manipulating energy, performing rituals, communicating with entities, all seems to be solid enough. The only problem is a language difference from what I've seen, but honestly that seems to be somewhat common across religions.
