Summoning and binding..?

My friend is interested in summoning a demon and binding it to us (well one for each of us, obviously) but I'm not thinking it's safe. In fact, I know it's not safe. We aren't very skilled as we have hardly had time to do any spells recently.
But anywayz, I wanted to ask if anyone knows what exactly goes on when summoning a demon or anything like that?

Exact circumstances will vary every time. The process typically calls a specific entity to you and seeks to contain it to your will, usually with the aid of a summoning circle or some other such construct.

Summoning a non-specific entity may result in a wide range of unpleasant surprises due to the varied nature of the possible answers. Calling a specific entity allows you to prepare for the nature of that specific entity, insofar as it is known. Offerings, tailored wards and protection spells, etc. can all be prepared depending on your methods of summoning, though I doubt you're using offerings if you are intending to bind the demon.

Upon contact, an otherworldly entity will usually access your intentions, emotional state, etc. It is entirely possible that a summoned demon will immediately seek weaknesses in will and emotion to exploit, if only to defend itself. You are, after all, seeking to bind it rather than make a bargain with it. Why would it willingly partake in such methods?

In its exploitation it will generally offer torment. Negative emotion such as fear, jealously, hatred, anger, anxiety, depression, etc. are likely. If you have trapped it, it will make your life hell for it. Of course, protection may be used against these methods but such protection is rarely "perfect."

These are generally the negative possibilities and I see no point in expressing the possible positives. As you said you are not experienced, skilled, etc. You two should not do this, and if your friend insists do not take part.

Your thread on ethics? Your thread is not the end all be all, and there will be many other points of view aside from your own.

She is obviously looking for more info, particularly the negative ramifications, so as to avoid the whole thing and provide a more sound argument against her friend's reasoning. Or could you two, in your infinite wisdom, not sort that out and read between the lines? Even if my interpretation is off, she clearly stated she was opposed to the whole idea in the first place and it was her friend that was pressing the issue.

Or are you taunting and insulting a 15 year old girl just for kicks?

So much for ethics.

Sometimes brevity works better then long winded diatribes. I pay less attention to the age then I do to the post, and sometimes people understand the simple response. This has less to do with ethics and more to do with potential harm. I think people who read my posts see that I don't taunt or make fun of anyone, although at times I am tempted.

The statement "are you crazy?" without taking the time to view the situation or offer something of substance would certainly appear insulting and trite.

If you are going to speak and lecture on ethics within magical practice you should exorcise ethical practice within social interaction as well. This generally indicates respect of the practices and traditions of others outside of your own path as well as taking the time to aid an admittedly inexperienced student with what you clearly believe to be your own expansive wisdom.

Doing otherwise indicates arrogance and hypocrisy.

This may well be the entirely wrong conclusion but speaking harshly in haste tends to result in others drawing the entirely wrong conclusions.

Ya know I like you, but I think you sometimes protest to much. First, I don't preach ethics in magic, or anywhere else. Second, If anyone sounds like someone on a soap box it is you. I was giving some quick and to the point advice about playing with Demons, my question still stands, Are you crazy? I think the question is valid. You can debate it all you want, the debate is not the answer, but I think you like the debate.

Ah, and there's the foot in my mouth. Haha, thus the problem with haste and harsh words. I confused you and indigo.

His post was the ethics in magick post, and he included you in a reference to "our post." Sorry about that mix up.

On the other hand, I responded in this way because... well... You're calling a 15 year old girl crazy. Knee jerk defense.
