A talisman is an object, sometimes engraved, inscribed, or marked with a symbol of some sort, believed to have magical properties (likely made with that intent, or imbued through some process). Typically, it is an item which is worn or carried for the purpose it was made to fulfill, such as an amulet charged with psychic protection, or something as simple as a worry stone.

What do you mean by wanting to "apply" a talisman to something?
