Ananke

Protogenoi (Pro-to-jen-oi) are the basic necessities of the Greek creation. Before there were Men, before there were any Gods, there were the Protogenoi. They are the abstract personifications of our every day life- and our necessities of life itself.

Many people assume that Erebos and Chaos was the start of it all. I thought Erebos was, as well, but until a recent discovery of mine, Erebos wasn't the start and nor was Chaos. Erebos is the void you enter directly after you pass on.

At first, there was Necessity. Not fate, not destiny, but inevitability. That such things will happen, and are bound to. It's kind of funny, though. In order to want or need, well, anything, you need need. The word itself. Without it, there wouldn't be wanting, or life in general. "This needs to happen", "This is bound to happen" and so on.

Ananke (Drakkon- meaning "The Serpent") was the start of it all. She is Necessity, Inevitability, and Compulsion. She mostly appears as a serpentine being, who so happened to stretch out her slithery arms and breathed life into the breathless, still, and dark Universe. Wrapping her coils around Khronos, together with Time Himself, splitting the Earth into three parts: Land, Sky, and Sea.

It is said that Ananke is always intertwined with Khronos, and together they supposedly controlled the fate of the younger Gods.

Anake is the mother of the Moirae- which are the three Fates. Together, they form the threads of life and foretell your future (Not like, you know, Apollo or Prometheus couldn't).

Thank you for reading.
