Limbless doll in tin can

Hi all hoping someone could help. Friend found a limbless doll in a tin can containing dark water at her doorstep last year. Since then she's had allot of issues and I keep thinking it could be related. Anyone know if this was a spell put on her and if so what kind of spell is it?
