it's an old gypsy fortune telling method if my memory serves. it works similar to tarot, only you use playing cards. i've read about it a little, but never actually bought a book for 'play card fortune telling 101' or something, so i can't be of much help. remember the future is always changing, fortune tellers show you one [or two depending on the spread] possible outcomes of one's fate.
this might be of some assistance: http://www.cafeastrology.com/fortunetellingcards.html
I always use playing cards, I haven't used my tarot deck since I started using them. It's probably not for everyone, but playing cards are easy enough to get that it doesn't hurt to try it out.

You can "see" the future in divination (concerning cards as the example) in the sense that the cards layed out afore you give you glimpses of the future as what COULD be. The way I explain this is that in divination you delve into the energies of the universe and channel (per say) these universal energies through the cards to reveal to the interpreter the possibilities of what could be. It's not limited to what is of the present or now. You could potentially even look to the past. Many spreads of tarot implement an aspect of the past that has affected the present and even the future of what could be. Our actions governs the outcome of the future. And through divination we get glimpses of the future. Whether it comes true or not is up to the person or persons involved and the actions they make. Again, the future is not set in stone, yet we can see possibilities of future events. So when using playing cards, tarot, runes, or some other method it's perfectly fine to do. So yes, it's true that you can use playing cards.
You can. I know a spread with playing cards, my aunt and grandma taught me when I was about 5 years old, then I used it for fun but now it gives me answers about some more important questions.
