Imitation vanilla?

Is it alright to use imitation vanilla in place of actual vanilla? I was raiding the kitchen cabinets for ingredients to a spell and wasn't able to find any real vanilla. All we have is imitation! Will the spell still work even though it's just imitation vanilla instead of vanilla extract?

i would not reccomend imitation, or artificial anything,(if it is an organic) as, one, it will not really work (if used in herbal magic) and two, it will be unhealthy for you if you eat, or use it as a insence, or scent

I'm not going to eat it and imitation vanilla is often used in baking...

It would not have the same properties, if that is what you are asking. If you look on the ingredients list, it does not contain vanilla. I would personally recommend you find some real vanilla or take it out of the spell :)

You could also substitute it with something that has the properties you are looking for ;)

it would not work the same, but if you're in a dyer emergency and it's very important, i'd use it, but try and find some real vanilla [which can get costly] and re-do the spell, if you believe it's still work, but not as well.

Everything I have read always reccommends that you use the real thing, otherwise the spell might backfire or do something undesired. The least case cenario is the spell will not work.
Blessing and good luck:
