Muscle Memory

I was working out earlier and found something intresting about my body. I was able to divert strength from my legs into arms and make my muscles stronger. I could feel it in my arms. My muscles grew tenser for the impact. This is muscle memory right? And if it is then could the mind literally tell the body to do amazing things? Like divert energy to jump 10 feet in the air? Don't get me wrong it wiped me out. I am very very tired now. I just want peoples opinions on the subject. Just be nice please. No need to call me any names. I know this is out there.

Greetings.
"When a movement is repeated over time, a long-term muscle memory is created for that task, eventually allowing it to be performed without conscious effort. This process decreases the need for attention and creates maximum efficiency within the motor and memory systems. Examples of muscle memory are found in many everyday activities that become automatic and improve with practice, such as riding a bicycle, typing on a keyboard, playing a melody or phrase on a musical instrument, playing video games,..."

What you are describing is more along the lines of concentration and awareness of how you can choose to make muscles work at different intensities and in different combinations.
Peace.

As someone else mentioned earlier, muscle memory is more just training your body to instictively react in specific manners due to repetition.

We do this when we learn to type, if we drill in a martial art, etc. The military uses a great deal of this. This is actually the point of many of the drills they do on a daily basis.

What you are describing is more along the lines of chi/energy based concepts rooted within martial arts and other such traditions. In general, it mingles mental and physical focus (and perhaps a bit of energy... though most of the people claiming supernatural influence are uneducated or mad... there are certainly instances that can't be excluded)to help achieve greater results through physical efforts.

Athletes, and anyone who works to achieve extraordinary feats of physical prowess often learn to utilize their entire body for something that otherwise might seem to be rooted only in the legs, and combine it with mental focus and so forth to achieve great results.

The mind can certainly tell the body to do amazing things, but having it actually do it is a different matter. Muscle needs to develop strength. Joints need to develop flexibility. And at the core of it all you need to develop everything to prevent injury.
