1-magic is everything. There's magic in everything. Magic is nature, the universe and everything that surrounds us. Is it instantaneous? Depends on the type of magic. If your doing a ritual of some sort, it will take the energies a but longer to manifest. Doing magick instantly will take practice and extreme focus. It requires lots of energy also. The type of element you chose to use in your spell will also have a effect. Earth magic will take a longer that fire magic. Things break down slowly in the earth, whereas in fire, things burn within seconds. Same thing as in air and water. Research it for more details.
2-it really depends on how serious you take your magic and how you want to practice it. Some people meditate everyday or practice their basics everyday. It really depends on you.
3-start out with the basics. Practice them. Read on witchcraft and wicca when you can. Buy or checkout books on Wicca. Know the gods goddesses. Know the basics. Etc.
4-It really depends on your family. Are they Christians? Christains tend to be more serious about wicca. Do they mind you doing witchcraft? Are they big time Jesus believers? Do they take their religion extremely seriously? Etc
Blessed be! May love and light be with you down this path!!.

Just felt the need to mention that not all magic is witchcraft and Wicca. Wicca is a religion, witchcraft is a term for a certain type of magic. There are Christians who practice magic, not all of them think of magic as evil. Some Christians who practice magic are quite serious. It's a common misconception that all Christians think all magic is evil.

Wicca is less than a hundred years old. Formulated by Gerald Gardner and Doreen Valiente. Witchcraft merely means "wise craft"; knowledge! And it is very much a religion to those who practise it.
