I know this may seem fluffy but can a gift be a curse?

That depends on one's perspective.

For example, there is a man outside who hates the rain. Suddenly it starts raining. To him, this is a horrible thing. He has gotten his new clothes wet and his mood ruined. On the otherhand, the area he was living in has been going through a severe drought and really needed the rain. Past his own perspective and thoughts, the rain is a wonderful thing, but to him, it remains horrible.

Are you speaking of a gift as a skill/talent? Or a physical object? If it is a skill/talent than it's just what it is. Some people call them curses, gifts, blessings, etc. But they are just apart of you. How you see them is up to your own perspective.

If you are discussing an actual physical present, that is a topic that can be questioned.

In my family, I was warned never to eat or accept anything from someone that was angry at me or didn't like me. The idea behind it was that the nasty thoughts and emotions toward me could be put into the food or onto the object even entirely unintentionally. Accepting a malicious energy tainted object is the equivalent of letting a stranger with a gun into your home--it leaves you willingly vulnerable with something potentially harmful. Will it have a lasting effect if it was done subconsciously? No.

But if someone is involved in magick, even just prays religiously, then food or objects given have an even greater potential of harboring something more than just what meets the eye. Purposefully imposing a spell of any kind, blessing or curse on something accepted by another individual is very effective and can be lasting if their was a ritual surrounding it that was well planned.

WhiteRav3n you are so right! I won't even wear jewelry that my mother has given me. My grandmother has told me she will be leaving me jewelry when she passes and I'm confused on if should wear it or not.

I would say that if you and she are close, wearing her jewelry would help retain a close connection with her as a venerated ancestor. If you love her but don't quite see eye to eye, I would recommend using the jewelry on an altar as a way to connect to and honor her, and then on special days such as her birthday, mother's day, Samhain, etc. you can offer fresh flowers, a favorite food or drink, etc to her to demonstrate your continued appreciation for all she has done for you and your love for her. Connecting with our ancestors can be more difficult when we do not have access to possessions of theirs, but with them, it makes it extremely easy. This is why in some cultures, they use the skulls of their ancestors. Besides the legalities against keeping loved ones' remains unless cremated, I think that jewelry is so much easier to display in your house without scaring visitors and prettier to look at. XD

Pretty much YES, by the standards of Nors Mithologie I`m blessed by Odin due to fact that I`m a natural Berserk(basically that means that with some training I would be at least in that time be a some type of a warrior priest, temple guardian or a elite warrior depending of the time period and region) but today this is problem to me cause I must keep a short leash on my emotions or I could lose control and possibly injure someone so you could also say that I`m cursed by it.

Just keep in mind that it IS judged only from your own perspective and that I myself actually consider that my Gift/Curse is a good thing.
