The Jotun's all father is Ymir, correct? How were the Jotun created?

From what I understand Surt has his own jotun kin also. Still learning though so correct me if I am wrong.

Ymir did originally birth the line that became Ice-etins. Fire-etins came from Muspellheim, presumably from Surtr. Many of the ice-etins were killed after Odin and his brothers killed Ymir, however a few escaped and produced the modern jotun by interbreeding.

In Vafthrudnismal, Odinn competes on knowledge with the jotunn Vafthrudnir. Here, Odinn asks how Aurgelmir* was made and Vafthrudnir replies:

"From Elivagum
came drops of eitr**,
multiplied, and a jotunn was;
from here that kins
all descends;
therefor we are all evil"
(verse 31)

But, no, Aurgelmir is not the allfather of jotunn. He is the ancestor of existence.

In a note to Personified: Neither Hauksbok, Codex Regius nor any other material concerning the Norse creation myth mentions that Ymir was killed by the sons of Burr, with the exception of Snorri's Edda, a book deeply infruenced by his contemporaries. He uses the word in the chapter Gylfaginning (The Illusion of Gylfi).

*Aurgelmir is the same as Ymir.
**eitr, as most heiti in traditional norse poetry, has multiple translations. Here are some examples of a possible translation: wrath, cold, poison, curse.

I should have mentioned that it came from the Eddas, than. I don't particularly put much into the creation myth, so I've not read other versions of it excluding Snorri's.
