Bamboo Staff

I found a beautiful piece of bamboo while walking in the park. It was much taller than I was, so when I got home my husband helped me cut it down to the right length; now it's just an inch or two taller than I am. The top of it has a beautiful design since it's where they had tied the tree off to stop growth, and it also has a natural crevice in the top where I can place a crystal. I am going to sand it down and clean it up a bit and I hope to use it to draw and direct energy.
Here is where my issue is. I want to put some sort of wood sealant on it to protect it from wear and tear. It already has a few cracks in it, and I don't want them getting any larger. If I do apply some sort of coating to it, will it drastically affect or possibly destroy it's natural energies? Is there any more natural wood coating I can apply to it that will protect it? Am I better off just sanding it down and leaving it all natural?

I suggest you use an all natural wood sealant. That way it won't gunk with your new staff, by the way I hope you didn't throw the extra bamboo away.

Hmmm, alright, I'll have to do a bit more research on wood sealants then. A lot of what I've found is heavy in chemicals and poly urethane based products. And I kept the bamboo I cut off, unfortunately it cracked in half length wise. I am probably going to burn some of it for charcoal to make black ink. Otherwise I haven't found a use for it yet, but I'm sure I will one day.
