MAIA

I decided to name the post in honor of Maia . Maia is the Goddess who's name we use to call this month May.

Maia should be a well know Goddess. Whether she is or isn't. I will have to wait and see. I would though like to ask if anyone knows of her. Tell me what they know. Or if they work or had an experience with her.

Wow. I know you guys do not know this but After the last paragraph I sat there thinking of how to explain Maia .

Maia is the eldest Daughter Of Atlas . Also seens at the most beutiful out of the seven Daughters. Maia is the Mother of Hermes . Hermes parent's where Zues and Maia . Maia is seens as a Greek Goddess of Spring. As well as Rebirth. She is seen as a very shy and gentle Goddess.

Some people Call her The Maker. She is said to be the one to make things grow again especially Flowers and Such. Some Refer her as The Grandmother Of magic due to her son.

She is the Patron Of Nurses and mothers. She is often celbrated on the first day of May.

This is a Suggestion from Source One of How To do something with her.

"On the Next clear Night. Take the Time to Star Gaze. Maia is The brightest Star in The Pleiades(Also Known as the seven sisters.) constellation. Located between the Hunter Orion and Taurus the Bull. Reflect on the elements on your life. That you think you need Maia to Influence of renewel. And Carry a piece of Amber for Strengthen your intentions for this week."

Maia is sometimes seenas A Goddess to Strengthen Our Sacral Chakra.

Nice post , most people dont pay attention to gods and goddesses that are not often spoken of in the most prominent myths of a culture.

Ahh, as the daughter of Atlas she would be a Titan rather than a Goddess. Her mother was the sea-nymph Pleione.

While it is certainly possible that the month of May was named for Maia, daughter of Atlas there is also evidence that the name of the month of May was derived from a Roman Goddess of the same name as you can see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maia_%28mythology%29#Roman_Maia

Good post nonetheless, no matter which Maia one talks about.
