humble beginnings

hi guys. i have been studying magic for about 5yrs nw and i am still where i was when i started out. these are my predicaments:
first and most importantly, i am nigerian. here, you're either christian or muslim, magic and witchcraft are frowned upon in both faiths. this makes practitioners- and possible mentors and materials- extremely hard to find! that and i've never successfully had a clear mind for more than 5seconds! well, i know i'm not the only one studying the arts on my own, so i'd like to hear some of your experiences (that is; those of you with no mentors) so i can learn! So mote it be! please!

Helpful Books:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman
"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar
"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig

There are also MANY helpful articles on the site! I recommend looking at highly rated ones that are by people who seem trustworthy or have a ranking (beginner, novice, etc.) You're welcome to message me if you need anything.

Blessed Be.

Modern Magick bu Don Kraig is an excellent book if you are interested in ceremonial or ritual magick. If you lean to the more Wiccan side of things I suggest Wicca: A Year and A Day by Timothy Roderick. Both are excellent books that will give you a firm foundation in magical practices.

If you are looking for more of a correspondence course, Builders of the Adytum (www.bota.org) is second to none for Tarot, astrology, esoteric psychology and magick. Servants of te Light (www.servantsofthelight.org) is a great one as well.I am still looking for a good pagan/wiccan correspondence course to recomment people too.
