Risk Management

I have never cast a spell before. I am timid even in doing card reading, although it is something I've been drawn to for as long as I can remember. I was raised Christian, with an acute focus on demonic activity. While I no longer identify with any religion currently, I am still concerned with having negative spiritual experiences. I have withheld this side of myself for a majority of my life. I am essentially a newborn infant right now, in terms of knowledge, or experience, or anything really.

I've read through the basics posts, and while they are wonderful sources of information and great starting points, I was curious if there were any "ground rules" so to speak for engaging in anything of this nature? Certain things to never do, or to not do without doing something else with it, or things that should not be attempted until experienced? What resources are there for understanding what risks what activities may pose?

This doesn't even have to be about spells, but anything related to witchcraft (If that's the correct term? I'm sorry if it isn't. Please correct me if needed.) that you feel deserves specific cautions? Or even just small pieces of advice you wish you had known when you got started?

Thanks for reading this. I hope it isn't redundant, or annoying. If another thread has been posted about this I apologize, and please do direct me to its home. Have a good day.

Well, i think spells/rituals such has death spells, summoning/conjuring rituals etc.. Are spells that a begginner should avoid, since they are complicated and very tricky.

I don't think there are really any " rules ". All you have to do is figure out your path, what you appeals to you the most, be it a ' white witch ' or a ' dark witch ' , shaman, nocromancer etc..
Once you have that figured out, just study it, it's history, what they are known for etc..

What i feel that deserves specific cautions is what i mentioned above, death, conjuring, summoning and maybe even love spells must be avoided if you're starting out. Alot of spells either fail or backfire.

If you already read what magic is, what it can/can't do and what your path is, and you're ready to give it a go and put it to practice, than just start out by an ' easy ' spell.

Spells requier energy, so it's normal if you feel a little light headed, dizzy etc.. And allow yourself to rest if you start to feel that.

Anyway, hope you have fun and enjoy whatever path you're taking :)

Blessed Be,
MoonCurse
