For thousands of years, humans have believed that the Sun and Moon were the creators of Life on Earth. Scientists now have proven this to be true. Are they Gods? Of course they are, if you believe that they are! They are "the givers of Life". All Life, not just human life!

To me, the goddess is the feminine quality that we give to natural phenomena depending on the culture. There are sun goddesses in some mythologies, after all (Amaterasu and I think Sekhmet and Sirona), although the closest I can think of to an earth god is a wodwose. Some modern personifications of the moon make it masculine.

To me the earth and the moon are representations of the Goddess while the sun can represent the God. These celestial bodies are not actually divine beings, they are physical heavenly bodies. The Gods, in my belief are both transcendan t, meaning they are not physical beings in a physical world, but they are also immanent , meaning that there is part of the God and the Goddess in everything in all of creation. There is certainly divine presence in the earth and in all the creatures upon it, including each of us.
