Element Confusion

I am brand new to witchcraft and I was told that it might be good to discover what element I am linked to, so I tried a spell where you cup your hands together and "feel" something in your hand. They said that extreme heat is fire, wet is water, breeze is air, and dry is earth. My hands felt a little hot and wet, but then my hands and body stiffened up. Then my hands started twitching like mad and the twitching traveled down my leg. I stopped the meditation after a minute and my arms were sore for about 20 minutes afterwards. Do you guys know what this means? Thanks for your help!

How long were you meditating? That sort of thing happens to me when I sit in one position for too long.

As for elements, you are linked to all of them. It is possible to have more of an affinity for one or a few of them over the others - you can figure that one out by feeling which you are more drawn to when working with the elements.

Oh really? Thanks for your help!
I was meditating for about 5 minutes or so before the twitching started going crazy. It was really bizarre.

First things first. Study them all! Learn all you can about each one and after a while you will realize that you seem to connect to one or two more than the others...or all of them equally!

Some of the best books on the elements and their magickal workings include Scott Cunningham's "Earth Power" and "Earth, Air, Fire & Water". Its where I got my start on working with the elements over a decade ago. The spells within them are very simple too for beginners.

However, before trying to do magickal workings with any elements, make sure you understand magick well. Read all you can on all the basics of magickal workings. You should understand altar tools, casting circle, moon phase meanings, color correspondences...and etc. As you do so, you will learn that everything connects to the elements too. Magick is funny that way. :)
