i do beleive there is a thread on this subject.. Blood magic is something very personal, its something you offer to dietys, or line your offering dishes with, but is also dangerouse.. You only need a few drops, and make sure everything is clean and sterle and be carefull. even pricking your finger squeezing a few drops out is sufficient... But before you do this make sure you've got a deity you follow that you want thi connection with, its not to be taken lightly...blessings and please it might be in misc,or in my coven we had a discussion thats might be open....be carefullo and blessings...

I know that in working with runes it is strongly suggested that you feed your runes with blood. I've heard hat often times other bodily fluids can be used as a substitute, but when working with blood you should be careful to observe safety precautions associated with blood borne pathogens. I have diabetic lancets on hand when blood is required, alcohol swabs and sharps container. You're only needing enough to make a strong personal connection, you're not painting the walls.

I'd recommend purchasing a copy of Charlotte Rodgers' book titled "The Bloody Sacrifice". It details her experiences in using blood and dead animals in art, tattoo work, and, as she is a non-denominational occult practitioner, along with being an Animist, it details her works in magickal ritual, where she includes the previously mentioned animals and blood, as well as menstrual blood. There are also a few detailings of her interactions with other people who do such similar practices, including somebody who uses their blood that has the HIV disease.

I've never personally used my blood in any ritual, 'nor have I even thought about it, and that book is my only real reading into it, so therefore it is my only suggestion, I'm afraid. I hope you can learn more about it though!

Since it wasn't mentioned yet ...

Blood is also used to connect with your deity, in a "sexual" way.

I see the use of blood as a desecration to the temple of the body and should never be used to amplify the spell for that just add more candles that are relevant to what your intentions are but as for feeding the runes I would suggest something that would not require you to harm the body in any way shape or form I have heard that using food works just like using blood or any other bodily fluid it may not be the most effective but it is rather plentiful and does not require any harm unless it is meat then the poor animal is really the only one harmed from it

Also, you can use apple cider or beet juice to replace blood in most spells. ^^

Some practices, and cultures, view working with blood as a very intimate, personal thing that can add a part of your essence and energy into the work you are doing. For instance, in my culture blood work was important- and was viewed as a way to connect to a deity, especially through offerings. I personally use blood in my practice. You don't need a gratuitous amount- a simple prick is sufficient, like Jarl was saying. If you do use blood, you have to be safe about it and take the necessary precautions: alcohol swabs, clean materials, that sort of thing.
