School.

I couldn't help but to notice that people were starting magick schools and what not in other sites. This is supposed to be a place of learning. Why can't we do something like that here. There are plenty of knowledgeable regular members who frequently post in the forums. Is there people here that really want to learn?

I really want to learn. I think that it's an excellent idea.

The reason there isn't is because the knowledgable people here are not willing to teach in the first place. Teaching is a big responsibility which a lot of people don't come on the site to do.

If you want a teacher, it is best to just find one on your own. Most people encourage self study anyways, and I believe it is best to find your own way of doing things. We don't like to spoon feed information to people, they don't learn anything from that, you have to apply what you know to expand and find your own discoveries.

I agree with self study. Teachers mean well but tend to push their opinions and beliefs on students and that can be limiting. Here in the forums, you can ask a question and get several opinions and have a discussion, rather than be told one answer.

I would respectfully disagree on both those points, Holla. Both I and Dillon have been trying to provide information to those that want to learn. You can hardly call what we are trying to do "spoon feeding".

Second, while you are correct that at a point you have to experiment and learn on your own, you are not going to hand a medical textbook to a 5th grader and say "Go out on your own and learn to be a neurosurgeon." That is foolish. out of all the forum topics, spells and "teachings", I would say that 95% of them are beginner level. And people do them, thinking they are high priestesses or adepts. Everyone here needs a mentor to guide them and work with them. And yes, everyone. I have my mentors.

There is no reason why someone on this site, if he or she wanted to work hard, could not initiate into the mysteries and become competent in magic. So, the question is who is willing to do that?

LVX,

Shawn.

Also a true teacher does not tell they guide. Not everyone is good at everything so you have to find out what your good at. Everyone is different and all have to find there way. But a good mentor and guide are indespencable.

I find that I like study alone. Having teachers on this site wouldn't be very useful, considering that most information is already in the forums. I can understand someone wanting a teacher, but some times people are too lazy to learn the basics and take time to meditate and go over what they know.

I like this Idea! I know people that like to learn with people, and some who like to learn individually. I am one to learn with someone; and if this were to happen I would defiantly partake!

If you don't learn the basics how can your magick work. There are people here willing to teach those who have the discipline to learn. And that's a statement based on truth not an assumption.
