Tolerance

I said it before, and I will say it again. People seriously should learn to tolerate others beliefs on a site such as this one. If it cant be done, perhaps no one should be allowed to share their beliefs. People will speak of Christians needing to tolerate their beliefs, yet do it in such a degrading manner it makes me question whether or not I want to be a part of this community. Then there will be Christians that do the same to others on here. When you look at the bigger picture, we are all here for the same reason, to learn and/or discuss magic. If your not here for magic, why bother coming to a magic site? It does not matter what religion you are, or even if you do not follow one. Everyone has the right to their own beliefs when they are not harming others with them . I have followed many paths in my life, and never once degraded others for theirs, or claimed one was right over another. One moment it will be stated that religion is not discussed in the chat, then the next it is discussed over relevant magic topics being brought up. I am hoping that this, among the other petty squabbling that goes on, will come to a stop soon. If not I will be leaving to find knowledge and the companionship of other practitioners on a more tolerant site. For those of you that will just look at this and continue insulting others for their beliefs, grow the heck up people!

How did you state it though? I have seen a few moderators gag people for stating their beliefs in an offensive manner, or for being insistant on carrying on about their beliefs when others wish to discuss magic (sadly enough that does not happen when it should). Unless you are breaking the site rules, you do not get banned or gagged. Been there, done that and know enough of the moderators to know better. Its not like I am new to this site and just coming upon this conclusion XD

There is no tolerance. I stated what I beleived in a non-offensive matter, and still got gagged. The mods are even unfair. =(

I agree with Mad that the tolerance or lack thereof between people here can be infuriating. Yes, there are many different paths/religions/etc here. We should all promote each others well being instead of trying to throw out beliefs and opinions at others.

And I also agree when she stated: Unless you are breaking the site rules, you do not get banned or gagged. Complaining about one of your accounts being gagged is pointless. Obviously there was something you did that a mod found to go against the rules. That's not dealing with tolerance- that's dealing with the rules and set standards of this site.

One point in the terms of use basically states that site owner has first and final say to what is deemed inappropriate behaviour, which is what may lead to banning, gagging, etc. The mods may not be the owner but the status responsibility of keeping order and giving proper discipline stone applies to the mods. So when you are talking in chat and rambling on about your beliefs only (for example) and the others want to talk magick in general and no one's specific belief, the mod may find that inappropriate behaviour for disturbing natural conversation flow, forcing upon others your beliefs, and so on. No matter what, what they say goes, and with a good purpose behind it. Now when you are being blatantly intolerant of the respect of others beliefs you are breaking the rules based upon terms of use (from what I understand). You are on a magickal community website where many people are at to learn and teach. Teach and learn as you may but be respectful about it. If you don't like how things are then leave. No one is stopping you. No one can stop you. You came here. You agree to do things right by joining. Whether you comply or not is your choice. And based upon your actions and what the mods deem best they may carry forth discipline appropriate to the action deemed inappropriate. All-in-all, you should have the decency to respect other on what they believe. Tollerate their beliefs. Even if it isn't what you believe in. It's only the right thing to do.

Actually this was more about people dissing on Christianity on the site. I did also state that Christians will do it as well though. Personally I don't care what anyone believes in as long as they do not go verbally attacking me or those I care about. Sadly this has happened a few times, and it tends to ruin the chat as well.
